Sugar Cube Igloo
I mixed 1egg white with 11/4 c. powder sugar for the ‘glue’
1 Box of sugar cubes (I bought ours at Meijer)
Draw a circle on a piece of cardboard and start building!!
Super Easy!! And Tons of Fun!!

What were Igloo’s used for?

You can tell by the pictures that my girls were in deep thought during this project. However, they both did lose interest by the end (it took an hour). The initial few layers go quickly, but the taller the Igloo gets the longer you have to let it set to dry: this helps prevent an obvious collapse from occurring during construction. We took advantage of the drying time by reading stories about Igloos, the Northern Lights, and the Iditarod!!

Monkey Bars

Pumpkin needed a quick easy recipe for a bake sale so we made these; Yummy Monkey Bars!!

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter (we used a 1T of Coconut oil in place of 1 T of butter)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons wheat germ (we used flax seed too)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • (We also added some cinnamon and some pumpkin pie spice…next time I would probably even add some dried fruit)
Directions:    1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan 2) In a large mixing bowl beat the peanut butter, brown sugar, and butter with mixer. Just until smooth and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla, then add banana. Stir in the oats, flour, wheat germ, and baking soda. Spread in prepared baking pan.  3) Bake 20-25 minutes…sprinkle with powdered sugar or serve with butter..MMM!!

Sensory Bins

We have been keeping busy with our “Sensory Bins” this week! And thought we would share a few pictures….if you make one for your kiddo’s please be sure to leave me a comment as I would love to check it out!!

It has been really chilly outside…so like last year we brought the snow inside for some fun! The kids love doing this and I love it too. They are warm inside and they still get to use their imagination. I think the best part is there is no bundling up and it lasts longer than 12 minutes!!

The Valentines Sensory Bin has also been a big hit ….

Rose petals, beads, blocks, foam hearts, and little toys with the theme “Red, White, and Pink”!! I have seen this bin used for many things this week among them; “making food”, “playing store”, and sorting.
