Snow Day!

Blizzard? Well, I wouldn’t exactly call it that…but we did get snow!! Starting at 8:30AM my girls were already begging me to go outside. I had two options argue, “it is too cold outside” or let them experience it first hand. I went with the second option, and much to my surprise they lasted about 12 minutes!!
 Pajamas on underneath their snowsuits….Pumpkin and Boo were off  “rolling, throwing, shoveling, and screaming” for 12 minutes…and then they decided it was time for hot chocolate. I in the mean time already had the hot water on, and was staying toasty warm inside with my little man!

 Mr. Smiles is getting so big…WAY TOO fast!! At 71/2 months old he has mastered crawling at lightning speed, say’s “Dada”, sits independently, has 2 bottom teeth, and continues to amaze me with his eagerness to learn. He loves his sisters (hair pulling love)! He loves his Mommy (giving me wet kisses daily) ! He loves his Daddy (he is even starting to tackle…such a boy)!
As our day progressed I decided it was a great time to introduce our “Valentines Sensory Bucket”….
well, lets just say things went sour FAST!
What started off as this;

Quickly ended up in this;
I have no idea how Boo turned on a dime (nor what set her off). The girls went from “making salad’ and “sloppy joes” to……HUGE tantrum! Yes, I really did strap her in a booster seat. Only after many failed attempts at sending her to her room, and using the time out rug….this girl has lungs!! Exhausting…I just try to tell myself  “and this too shall pass”, right?

I leave you with this…my screaming two year old who nearly brought me to tears today…really is a beautiful girl!! This picture was taken after a 1 hr nap and a snack…Amazing!!

Ringing in the New Year!

To ring in 2011 this year we went to my parents house for a BIG family sleep over. The guys and my oldest nephew attended a NHL Red Wing hockey game. While the women and little ones stayed behind for some make over FUN!!!
O.K, so Mr. Smiles did not have a make over, but he was happy to hang out with the ladies and his cousin J.J

My little K.Bear wanted to paint her own toe nails…ugh! This was not the first time I let her do this, but I must confess the last time was outside and a lot less stressful. Something about bright pink nail polish, a 2 year old, and a white floor can be REALLY scary!! Luckily, we had an old table cloth to lay out…just in case!!

Check out those toes!!

Pumpkin had been looking forward to our “family sleepover” for days…it was hard to contain her excitement at times. She tried out her blush brush…in an attempt to cover the nasty scratch K.Bear gave her earlier in the day. We have to work on Pumpkins defense….the poor girl is so passive and sweet it is hard for her to ‘fight back’. In the mean time…our continued efforts of discipline for K.bear at times can be very trying and tiring. She is one cute little stinker…who is very familiar with her room, the corner, a rug, spanking, and our most said phrase in our home “listen and obey!”

The girls pose for a quick picture showing off their glimmer and shine make up!!

and…the little man wants to say a quick “Hello”!!

After the little ones went to bed…it was time for Pumpkin and Mommy to try out the Wii Active….O’WOW I have not worked out in a LONNNNG time…after about 10 min of squats a lot of laughs and a sore butt for the 2 days following. Im glad I did it and might look at joining the workout world again in the near future. In my spare time that is (wink, wink)!!

So in a nut shell that is how we spent our New Year..sleeping everywhere in my parents house…laughing, eating, and just enjoying some family time. Although, I do not know what 2011 holds for me or my family…one thing is certain we will be TOGETHER!!
From my family to yours Happy New Year!!
My little man, JR, and JJ (my nephews)

Get to “Re-know Us!”

The girls have been having a blast with all of our Advent activities….I printed these super super cute ornaments and put them up on our “Advent Tree”. Printed on the backside of each ornament is a “fun” activity* which we do that particular day/night; anything from “Root Beer Float Night” to making a Paper Chain Christmas count down. We are having a blast this holiday season and are so glad to share it!!

K.Bear is enjoying a new found “independence” at the ripe age of 2yrs 4 mo…I said it once, I said it “100x’s” this girl is going to light the world on fire. She is a little ball of energy, a sweet sole, with a spunky attitude, and truly our family comedian. On any given day she can be found climbing dressers, making her independence known “Me Do It!”, playing babies, playing dress up, or just showcasing her pearly whites.

Pumpkin is busy at work on her Christmas cards…Miss. Inquisitive, the perfectionist, the organizer, our first born leader…this girl is destine to be in politics and/or law with her arguing skills!!

And, the newest member to our homeschool Mr. Smiles officially makes his debut…..I love this boy!! His smile (although not in this picture) can light up a room. His mind is always going, he loves his sisters, and is typically full of giggles and grins…O’ how I am blessed. I have been caught saying “I would have a fourth” if I could guarantee a boy..  don’t hold your breath on that one though!!

I think some of my favorite things about having children is the ability to watch them learn, grown, and excite in the littlest things…for instance the 5 snow flakes (o.k maybe a few more that that) falling from the sky. There is nothing better than walking outside hearing your “5” yr old say “Mommy I’m catching snow on my tongue”..so sweet!! These little moments make me appreciate them for the little sponges they are!!

We have also implemented “The Elf on a Shelf” in our home. Our Elf’s name is “Critter” …not sure why, but that is what the girls decided on. He watches over them during the day and reports back to the “Big Man in the North Pole” at night. K.Bear does not fully “get-it”…but their excitement each morning finding “Critter” is priceless.

St.Nicholas also visited our house December 6th…we placed our shoes outside on the front porch at night…and wouldn’t you know it …candy in the AM!! The girls enjoyed a “sweet surprise” for breakfast M&M’s, Smarties, and play tattoo’s?!

K.Bear with her sleepy little face was not quite sure what to think….but Smarties in hand, she was ready!! This girls is always ready (never leaving the house without a backpack packed..she is truly a Mommy in the making!!)
So, I know this was not exactly a “school” post but more of a “get to re-know us” post… know that we have lots to share..and are excited to see what the future holds. We are getting bigger each day, learning more, and exploring together is what we do best!!
