2 Become 1

Nope not a wedding, I’m talking about my blogs!! I have officially decided that I will be combining my two blogs (this one and my homeschool blog). Mostly for my own sanity these days!

Long before we actually began homeschooling Pumpkin ( and now Boo too!) I read countless books, blogs, etc. saying “homeschooling is a lifestyle”. Well, my thoughts were “yeah, whatever!” Now, one full “official” year under our belt and another soon to follow; I am here to tell you….yes, it is a lifestyle.  My days revolve around school and “our school” revolves around “our life”. I love being a mother and I love homeschooling our children!! It no longer makes sense to keep the “two” separate.

I am excited to “blend” the two and Im sure you will be “entertained” along the way. I will periodically be posting blog entries from “Wee Explorers” to trickle in the transition….the “construction” I promise will be full of laughs, crafts, lesson plans, and sooo much more from my “3” little monkeys!!

And for those who might “not quite” be on board with homeschooling….we are all entitled to our opinions…all I ask is kind words, well wishes, and blessings along the way. Just as we do to you we appreciate the same in return. It makes the world a better place!!

We have officially hit the 2 week mark of our “homeschool journey”. All I have to say is “Im loving it”!!! My husband even said last night “its crazy how happy Pumpkin is since she has been out of school”!! I love not running around like a chicken with my head cut off..drop off, pick up, lunch, nap, clean up, dinner, blah, blah, blah!! I love all the family (sister time) that homeschooling has provided us with!! I love that Pumpkin is growing by leaps and bounds…yes, even as mommy as her teacher (counting to 30, starting to read…) I love that she is happy!!

I usually write about our homeschooling adventures on my weeexplorers blog, but since it has consumed my life the past 2 weeks I figured it was only fitting to post a bit on my “mommy journey/life” blog. Of course I had to add a picture of the little “Boo” in here too!! She is loving tot-school with mommy, cuddle times with sissy, circle time, snack, and just being an 18 month old!!!

A special thanks to all of my friends, supportive family, and blogger friends that have finally encouraged me to take the plunge…I truly didn’t know if I would/could do it!!! Now, I can’t imagine not….

Waiting

So I am anxiously awaiting my boxes of school supplies for Skinny Minnie! I made my first purchase yesterday from Discount School Supply! I was like a kid in a candy store clicking on all of the items (some for this year some for next). I will likely be putting in another order after I have saved some more money. I think I have a new addiction to buying educational items 🙂

After much contemplating, pondering, reading, and anxiety over what is “right” we have finally decided A is staying home for school again next year. Thanks to all of you veteran homeschoolers who have been so patient with me and my millions of questions.

This will likely be a year by year decision on our families behalf but it is truly a decision that I feel shouldn’t be taken lightly (despite the age of the child). I get a lot of “she is only 31/2 don’t worry” I just smile, nod, or bite my tongue because it is obvious to me at that point this individual does not share the same views on education as I do. My personal belief is that education and learning starts from the time a child is born. Parents are a child’s first and most important educator. No-one knows your child and his or her needs better than you!
