bumps, bruises, O’my!!

Well you know you haven’t blogged lately when….your husband say’s I can’t believe you didn’t blog about “fill in the blank”…LOL

Our little house has been keeping pretty busy these days! Summer months tend to bring about chaotic schedules in our little piece of the world. Our days are filled with out door play, exploring, and fun. At the end of the day I am whipped (so are the kiddos) AMEN for 7:00 bedtimes!! With that all being said I will now….”fill in the blank”

K.Bear fell out of her crib.….or climbed we are not really sure!!

I was out visiting with a friend who just had a baby…and got that heart stopping phone call from my very panicked husband “K fell out of her crib”….

Me: Im coming…

DH: O.K

Me: Handing back the newborn….Running like mad through the hospital to get home to my sweet little one….is she hurt? Does she have a bump?…. Does she need stitches? I knew we should have put that mattress down sooner…..(mothers guilt kicking in) I walk in the house to quiet (this is good…she stopped crying) Amazingly, thank God she is fine!!! Checking her over 1000 times….not a bump, not a bruise, nothing but a little cut on the top of her ear!! WOW!!

I might add Pumpkin climbed out of the same crib at 18 mo (on Mommy’s time) so I know that thump to the ground that my poor husband had playing through his head all night. A very helpless feeling indeed when your children get hurt. We have been so blessed with only minor bumps, bruises, and scrapes I pray it stays that way because this Mama who once wanted to be a nurse…LOL has over the years developed a phobia of hospitals (I am a complete germ-a-phobe) at all cost I would like to stear clear!!

So here’s to some SAFE, Fun filled Summer months!!

Paci Post

I realized I forgot to share this priceless picture with all of you during my weeks of “Spring Frenzy” cleaning! Both of my girls have been paci baby’s and I can never seem to find one at that moment when they are needed. As I moved the crib to dust …. low and behold there was a paci resting on an electrical plug.

So then was born the “Paci Post”!!!

This post is to pay tribute to all of those paci’s in our house that have been lost, stolen, covered in dust, or just gone before us! I especially love this one of my near 3 year old with a paci in her mouth and the newborn with none!!

In an attempt to rid Pumpkin of the paci my husband and I (mostly I) tried many MANY different tactics. Some of them I shocked myself at the shear desperateness to rid her of that darn thing by her 3rd Birthday (which I might add didn’t happen). I tried cutting part of the nipple off (aka:broken paci’s), we tried setting limits, bought newborn ones so they would be to small for her mouth, we bought different brands, we packaged them up on her 3rd Birthday to mail them to the paci fairy, we tried, tried, and tried some more.

As Pumpkin waits anxiously on her 3rd Birthday to wait for gum to fall out of the sky from the fairy……Mommy had tears in her eyes (bye-bye paci….)! O.k so I will tell you we did not tell her the fairy was going to drop it out of the sky …..thinking quickly as parents must do! Gum really did fall from the sky …..or maybe it was thrown over the house?? She was thrilled none the less!!

The day went wonderfully until…….BED!!! O’ Dear God please help us I prayed….what are we to do our little 3 year old is so deeply saddened….Yep, we caved..Paci Fairy forgot to take one!! This went on for another month until; BAM…..

Could it be? Pumpkin put her paci in the garbage (we had already tried this before…it didn’t work!) This time was different “she did it”!! As bedtime neared I panicked ….but Pumpkin held strong went to bed without a fuss and said “I didn’t like that fuzzy on my paci” she will still tell you today that is why she threw it away….

You got it…a piece of “DUST” AMEN!!!

As I write this I tell you this to not only share a funny little story about our many paci adventures in our home but to shed light on how precious our little ones are. Yes, even in those times of “battle of the wills”. Now looking back I laugh because my stress of “that things got to go” was not because it bothered her or I (it bothered others). So in light of that be yourself, hold strong, one should not press judgment on others, and let our kids be kids!!

I thank God for Pumpkins strong will and ability to know when is “right” for her!!

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged” (Matthew 7:1)

Outside School

The weather in our little part of the world has been lovely and we have been enjoying every minute! Mommy especially loves the tired kiddos at the end of the day. We have not been doing much “school” (since Easter…really) anything we have done has been on the “fly”! We are starting our summer break you could say. Although, I do have plans to continue with school even in the summer months it will consist more of reading books, hands on learning outside, and field trips! A bit less structured than usual…..

We enjoyed our first picnic with some friends at a near by park. This was great the kids all brought their bikes (of coarse they all wanted to eat as soon as we got there)! The park had lots of shade and plenty to do.

K.Bear soaking up some vit. D in the back yard (she just looked so darn cute…I had to snap a picture)
Near by our house we have an outdoor mall (it is very pretty) I took the girls to play and then we got K.Bears ears pierced (check out Loving Motherhood) for more on that 🙂 The play area is all healthy foods and a pumping heart that makes noise when you climb on it. Some “health education” at its finest!

O.k so it hasn’t been all physical activity we really have been reading too!! Or should I say “eating books”

What are your plans for the Summer? Will you be continuing with school or taking a break? I would love to hear all about it!
