Bits of Boo

I apologize for any duplicate pictures in this post. One of the main reasons I blog is to capture those growing moments that pass so quickly in my kids lives. With 2 kids 4 years and under and #3 on the way scrapbooking has taken a back seat in my life…and blogging has allowed me the opportunity to capture those moments (the best I can) and keep track of it all (for now)!!

Someday it may end up in a book…maybe when they are 18?!

Boo just loves doing school…it is wonderful!! This little ball of energy can’t get enough ‘circle time’!! We start most days singing songs, doing Ring-Around the Rosie, calendar (and songs), we read a story (or more), and do Bible together. Sounds good doesn’t it?? ….I should mention the 100 ‘x I say ‘sit on your bottom’..no fighting….hold on I have to get a diaper…I just wanted you to get the full effect!! Boo has most recently been introduced to sorting. We have been working on sorting colors (red and blue), transferring various items into ice cube trays, and using a spoon to transfer as well.

We are easing my baby girl into the kitchen..big sissy loves to cook… so far Im thinking …Boo likes to eat more!! We made chocolate covered strawberries…..

She had fun while eating it but boy did she scream for clean up!! The messier Boo is the happier she is!! I often call her my little ‘pig pen’ ๐Ÿ™‚ O.k…..so she does like to get messy…. however, the kid loves to clean too!!

That’s right, my 18 mo old is using a swiffer to clean the T.V a girl after my own heart!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Both of my kids have inherited mine and my husbands OCD tendencies. They like order and cleanliness!! Now, on any typical day if you randomly stopped by you would find a hurricane of toys all over the living room….unfolded laundry waiting patiently to be put away…and my sink full of dishes waiting to hop in the dishwasher. I have what I call my two ”crunch times’ of a day before nap and before Daddy gets home!!! So to my precious husband if you want to think of your wife as ‘super mom’ don’t surprise us and come home early unless you wear a blind fold!!

My little snacker…ripped open her Valentines as quickly as possible just to get to this sucker.

Some of Boo’s most recent accomplishments

Words:
Mama, Dada, Abba, Nonna, Papa, Ball, Please (Pease), PooPoo (Papooh), Puppy, Drink (ink), Ummmm (food), Hi, panpapes (pancakes), baby, lalalala (Isabella), JJ (Jayden), there are more…Im drawing a blank (see why I blog?!)

Sign language: more, drink/cup, thank you, please, thank you, stars, all done

Gross Motor/Fine Motor: climbing the kitchen chair, on/off the couch, climb up stairs (down with assistance), stacking blocks, and stringing items on pipe cleaners

Favorite thing to do: Eat

Bed Time: 6:30-7 (wake 7:00 AM)

Best things about Boo: Her zest for life….her spunky attitude…her silly personality…her love to make people laugh even at such a young age…her adoration for babies….her big brown eyes & super long eye lashes…her undeniable love for her family!!

Thanks for reading my “Bits of Boo” I hope this helps you get to know her better and most importantly it helped me capture some of those moments that can so easily be forgotten!!

Tot-School/Prek Valentines

A bit delayed but better late than never, I guess….here is a peak at some of the Valentine fun we enjoyed!! It is a tradition in our home to make chocolate covered strawberries… and this was the first year that I did not do most of it myself. Pumpkin took charge and did a great job ๐Ÿ™‚ she is my little chef in the making.

K. Bear is being introduced to the kitchen basics as well….or should I say she is our professional taste tester??!!

Pumpkin in deep concentration as the dipping begins…

Some of our random ‘school’ projects for the week were as follows; a little heart lacing project for Pumpkin.
K.Bear had her first lesson in sorting…we did several sorting activities throughout the week using a heart ice cube tray from Target. K.Bear had a blast with these giant tongs… ๐Ÿ™‚

Pumpkin is an old pro at sorting at this point but she still enjoys doing ‘tray’ activities. After all a little extra help/practice with fine motor skills never hurt anyone…

What Valentines would not be complete with out the “party”? This year we enjoyed a very informal party (no fuss style) with our homeschool co-op. It was very nice!! The kids all brought their decorated boxes and passed out valentines. We also did a sticker exchange instead of ‘candy’ treats. Our lesson for the morning was on “heart health”. Even little K.Bear can tell you where her heart is now and Pumpkin loves to make her heart beat fast & slow.

We did not let the kids open their “prizes” from their friends until they arrived home. Pumpkin sat on the floor looking at every card, sticker, and treat in her special mail box. K.bear found the only sucker in her box , ripped it open, and began to eat it!!!

Happy belated Valentines from our little school to yours!!

Some PreK Fun

I wanted to share a few of our recent projects we have done over the past couple weeks at ‘weeexplorers’; most of them have to do with the letter “Ff” as we used that as our primary focus letter for our first week ‘back to school’. Pumpkin knows her letters and sounds but we are now changing gears a bit focusing more on writing the letters. We are using Hand Writing Without Tears…which so far I am really enjoying!!

Our hand print fish came out super cute….my only advice on this one is plan ahead because you have to wait to do each step!!
1) Paint hand and stamp it
2) Let dry and glue eyeball on
3) Color/water color some water for your fish to swim

Pumpkin is exploring with our HWWT homemade mat board and ‘pieces’ complements of my dear friend Andi ๐Ÿ™‚ We have been taking the letters very, VERY slowly because Pumpkin tends to have the ‘I know how to do this’ attitude when it comes to writing. The girl loves to write but she does not want help…which makes mommy a bit crazy at times. I try to be patient and make it fun so that the letters are formed correctly. Patience, patience, patience….

What “Ff” week would not be complete without gold fish? Pumpkin had to sort and count each color before she ate them ๐Ÿ™‚

We also made “sun catcher fish” these came out absolutely beautiful if I don’t say so myself. I simply cut a fish pattern out of contact paper and the girls attached little tissue paper squares. Super easy!! Pumpkin helped me glue the eyes on and then we hung them for all to see!!

Hope you enjoyed our intro to PreK….much, much , more still to come!!
