Throwback Thursday: homeschool style

Today we are going back in history; its throwback time!’ Here is a homeschool throwback craft we did in ‘2009’ 🙂 look at those tiny feet.

Craft-Footsie Tootsie Bees

You will need;
yellow construction paper
black paper
wax paper
wiggle eyes
scissors
glue stick

First trace one of your child’s feet on the yellow paper, then trace each hand on a piece of wax paper (with fingers closed…like a mitten). Cut out pieces. Also cut small strips of black paper (stripes).

Start building your “Footsie Tootsie Bees”
1. Glue the black stripes on the Bee Body (foot)
2. Attach wings (the mitten hands)
Glue on the eyes

Voila…you have your sweet little ones hand and feet in one project! The girls all really enjoyed this one. Our little 4 year old friend enjoyed walking around stinging everyone. We also talked about the purpose of bees and pollination. If I owned the Bee Movie  we would have watched it!

Five Minute Friday: Fall

Join me and some of my fellow bloggers as we ‘blog’ for 5 minutes all on the same prompt. No grammar checks, no extreme editing, just the real deal!

Go….
Fall is my favorite time of year. The crisp air and the ever fragrant smell of cinnamon spice candles lit in my home. A fire burning in the fire place and myself cuddled up on the couch.
I’m also usually not far from my oven; fresh baked gluten free pumpkin bread, zucchini bread, and pumpkin donuts for an added surprise. Can you tell I love Fall? Pumpkin, apples, and cool nights I love them all the same.
The crunching of fallen leaves beneath my feat as I walk with my children in the neighborhood is a quick reminder of ‘why’. Why I do what I do? I choose to pour into my kids and savor the moment every last ‘fall-abulous’ piece of their souls because HE has given me the most fall-abulous gifts of all.
STOP!

So wont you join us for thr #fmfparty

Five Minute Friday

Warning: Kids @ Play

Ah yes, here we are a lovely rainy, cold day out on our boat. The sound of children playing in the background as I read a good book on my nook. We are warm and cozy indoors just the six of us.

Oops wait…what this picture is not telling you is that my children yelling at each other as they  ‘mess up’ someone else’s toy master piece reaches decibels I’m pretty sure my ears were never meant to hear. It also does not tell the ‘countless’ times I repeated ‘kind words’, ‘soft voices’ , ‘get along or else…’!

The reality parenting is hard work. Although, the reward of my work is so much more than I deserve:  the countless kisses, big hugs, and tons of snuggles I receive. The blessing of having these four little monkeys to raise is truly a gift but each seed that is planted needs constant watering in order to flourish. Which means I must repeat myself ‘countless’ times and ‘get over ‘ my ‘perfect vision’ of what I think ‘it’ should look like. The reality is my kids are little sinners just like myself. Therefore, it is completely unreasonable of me to think they would be ‘perfect’. Our world throws ‘perfection’ in a mothers face. The world is ‘full’ of social media “fakeness”. We never truly ‘see’ the full picture that is until someone lets us in on the ‘real’ deal.
So when my children reach near inaudible tones may I remember that it is season and the ‘coaching’ I’m doing will someday pay off. I just might need a hearing aid in order to enjoy the ‘fruits’ of my labor in the future or at least invest in some good ear plugs until then.
